Calculator answers
ChoiceSpec calculators run in your browser. The answers you enter are used on your device to work out the result and are not submitted to ChoiceSpec.
Information processed when you visit
ChoiceSpec uses Cloudflare for website hosting, DNS, delivery, and security. When you visit the site, Cloudflare may process standard technical and security information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as your IP address, request details, browser or device information, the page requested, timestamps, and security signals.
We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure, reliable website for this processing.
Web analytics
ChoiceSpec uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate site usage and real-world page performance. It provides measures such as visits and page views, page paths and referrers, broad country and device or browser categories, page-load performance, and Core Web Vitals.
Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as cookie-free and states that it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data or track individual users across its customers’ websites.
ChoiceSpec does not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioural profiling.
Theme preference and cookies
If you switch between light and dark mode, ChoiceSpec stores that preference in your browser’s local storage so the site can remember it. This preference is not used to identify or track you.
Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies when required to provide security, traffic management, or other essential network functions. ChoiceSpec does not currently set non-essential advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies.
Google Fonts
ChoiceSpec currently uses Google Fonts to provide the site’s typefaces. Your browser connects to Google-hosted services to request the relevant stylesheet and font files. As with other web requests, Google may receive technical connection information such as your IP address and browser information.
When you contact us
If you email ChoiceSpec, we receive the information you choose to send, which may include your name, email address, message, and any information included in attachments or previous correspondence.
We use this information to reply to you, deal with your request, administer the site, and protect our legitimate interests. Email delivery may involve service providers including Cloudflare, Google, and Resend.
We keep correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was received, including any reasonable administrative, security, or legal need.
Service providers and international processing
ChoiceSpec uses third-party providers to operate the website and email service. These providers may process information in countries outside the United Kingdom. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we rely on the safeguards and transfer mechanisms made available by the relevant provider as applicable to the service.
We do not sell personal information.
How long information is kept
ChoiceSpec does not maintain a separate visitor-level database of calculator answers. Technical, security, and Web Analytics information handled by Cloudflare is retained according to the relevant service configuration and Cloudflare’s retention practices. Contact correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, or to object to certain processing.
Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you can object to that processing in appropriate circumstances.

Automated decisions
ChoiceSpec’s software recommendations are produced by deterministic calculator rules based on the answers you enter. They do not make legal decisions about you or decisions intended to have a similarly significant effect on you.

We may update this notice when the site, its service providers, or its data practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
